What is Acne?
Acne is a very common skin condition which presents as blackheads, whiteheads, painful pus filled spots, cysts or nodules, most commonly on the face, neck, upper chest, back and shoulders. Acne usually starts at puberty, but can persist into adulthood. Some people develop acne for the first time as an adult. Regardless of when it started or how severe the acne is, it is very common for people with acne to feel self conscious and often their acne affects their quality of life. Many people with acne have tried ‘over the counter’ treatments and may have had treatments prescribed by their GP, without achieving the results that they want.
How can Dr Sewell treat my Acne?
Dr Sewell has the expertise to formulate a personalised treatment plan factoring in the severity of your acne and previous treatments which you may have tried. Usually this is in the form of a gel or cream, antibiotic, change to your oral contraception, other hormone modulating tablets or Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) capsules. Where appropriate she may also recommend changing your usual skincare regimen as part of your treatment plan. Dr Sewell believes that everyone is entitled to clear skin and with modern treatments and the right treatment plan this is entirely achievable.
